I've been following the pro scene extensively, and even without the game, already had a good understanding of the mechanics.do Blizzard really expect people to have to do this to understand all the nuances? Half these nuances aren't even mentioned, and the ones that ARE, are just described extremely vaguely, with no actual damage figures, range numebers, cooldown values etc. It's one of the only significant downsides I see to this game. I think a lot of players who'd never played the game already knew you had to aim the deflect, whereas a lot of people who probably have played Genji at this point still don't know.Īlso, I think the explanations of abilities in general is completely garbage. Even he cannot say where his path will ultimately lead.Nothing overly difficult to understand, I know there are a lot of new players here with no understanding of the game who also just wanted to quickly try it out for the beta so didn't have any understanding of it before trying either. Now, for the first time in his life, Genji is free. He learned to accept that although he had a cyborg body, his human soul was intact, and he came to see his new form as a gift and a unique strength. In time, Zenyatta became his mentor, and under the monk's tutelage, Genji reconciled his dual existence as both man and machine. Though Genji initially rejected Zenyatta's wisdom, the benevolent omnic would not be deterred. He drifted for many years before crossing paths with the omnic monk Zenyatta. When his mission was complete, he abandoned Overwatch and wandered the world in search of meaning. He was repulsed by the mechanical parts of his body and could not come to grips with what he had become. Transformed into a living weapon, Genji single-mindedly set about the task of dismantling his family's criminal empire.īut as time passed, Genji felt increasingly at war with himself. He was put through an extensive process of cyberization, which enhanced his natural speed and agility and augmented his superlative ninja skills. As Genji's injuries left him clinging to life, Overwatch offered to rebuild his body in exchange for his help. The global security force saw Genji as a potential asset in its ongoing operations to combat the Shimada clan. Hanzo believed that he had killed his brother, but Genji was rescued by Overwatch and the intervention of Dr. The tension between the brothers built to a violent confrontation that left Genji on the verge of dying.
Following the clan leader's untimely death, Genji's older brother, Hanzo, demanded that Genji take a more active role in their late father's empire. Many within the clan considered the carefree Genji to be a dangerous liability, and they resented his father for coddling and protecting him. He had little interest in the family's illegal businesses, and although he excelled at and enjoyed his ninja training, he spent most of his time pursuing a playboy lifestyle. The cyborg Genji Shimada has made peace with the augmented body he once rejected, and in doing so, he has discovered a higher humanity.Īs the youngest son of the master of the Shimada ninja clan, Genji lived a life of luxury and privilege. When facing a Bastion in turret form, using his deflecting will almost always result in Bastion's death. His abilities don't stand alone and work best as combos so managing his cooldowns makes him a little more difficult to play effectively than others. Being able to deflect some incoming fire makes Genji a little more hardy of an offensive player improving his survivability. His katana swift strike closes the distance to a foe fast, and is a deadly finisher after starting off with ranged shuriken. His shuriken spread can be effective at chipping off the last bit of health as the fanned out spread makes precision less of a priority. Genji is fast and nimble and his different abilities make him deadly and tough to pin down.Until he sheathes his sword, Genji can deliver killing strikes to any targets within his reach. Genji brandishes his katana for a brief period of time. If Genji eliminates a target, he can instantly use this ability again. Genji darts forward, slashing with his katana and passing through foes in his path. With lightning-quick swipes of his sword, Genji reflects an oncoming projectile and sends it rebounding towards his opponent. Alternatively, he can throw three shuriken in a wider spread. Genji looses three deadly throwing stars in quick succession. "Even if I sacrifice my body, I will never sacrifice my honor." Genji Abilities Shimada Clan (Formerly) Overwatch (Formerly)
